Lead Teacher
Job Title: Lead Teacher Wage/Hour Status: TBD
Hours: Monday –Friday 8:00am -4:00pm
Reports to: Director of Instruction Date Revised: May 2011
Primary Purpose:
The Infant Toddler Teacher facilitates the learning environment for 2-3.5 year old children. The teacher is responsible for providing opportunities for learning in accordance with Montessori curriculum and guidelines provided by Watson Hall Montessori. The teacher is the model and motivation for the children entrusted to his or her care.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree or 120 college credits in Early Education or related field
Montessori Infant/Toddler credential from MACTE, AMS,or AMI certified program or documented Montessori Experience
Pediatric First Aid/CPR certified
Meet MSDE CCA qualifications
Special Knowledge/Skills:

demonstrated proficiency in working effectively and positively with a variety of people
ability to creatively solve problems and situations
ability to counsel children and parents
the ability to use a computer for word processing and email

the ability to organize, coordinate and monitor multiple activities at a time
Teacher must have reliable personal transportation
Minimum Experience:
Teacher should have experience in teaching or working with children, preferably in a Montessori classroom.

Physical Demands:
This position requires the ability to think clearly and act respectfully with children and their parents. Must be able to sit on floor, walk on field trips, stay on feet if necessary most of the day.
Environment:
Teacher is required to work in a classroom environment while dealing on a daily basis with students, parents, faculty, administration, volunteers, and visitors to The Watson Hall School.
Terms of Employment:
Salary: as determined by the Watson Hall School; using a scale based on job qualifications, length of service, and performance.
Training: The teacher is required to maintain annual training as required by the Maryland State Department of Education and the Maryland Office of Child Care. The Lead Teacher is also required to adhere to all policies and procedures related to The Watson Hall School staff. In addition, The Lead Teacher is required to attend all meetings and events as specified by The Watson Hall School.
Teaching Assistants
Job Title: Teaching Assistant Wage/Hour Status: $9.50-$11.00/hour
Positions Available: 3
Hours: Monday-Friday (Flexible 5-8 hour day)
Reports to: Director of Instruction Date Revised: January 2012
Primary Purpose:
Teaching Assistants assist the Lead Teacher with ensuring the integrity of the Montessori learning environment. Teaching Assistants will receive supervision and guidance from the Lead Teacher while in the classroom. Overall supervision will be provided by the Director of Instruction. Teaching Assistants are responsible for ensuring the safety and needs of each student as directed by the Lead Teacher.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification:
A.A. degree or B.A. in related field preferred. Actively enrolled in a B.A. program is acceptable.
90 hours of child care credits
Pediatric First Aid/CPR certified
